The library has some good resources if you would like to know more about the early history of America. Columbus Day weekend I was privileged to tour Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Battlefield in Virginia. The experience reminded me of something a 19th century Scottish minister wrote:

"In a sense, the fathers are with me still. Their example, their life, their influence, did not end when they themselves were removed from the old home and the accustomed work. They call to me to admonish, to awaken, to encourage." Alexander Smellie, In the Secret Place
